IF – Fleeting

Two things I so enjoy, each fleeting in its own way – asparagus for its short spring season, soft-poached eggs for their carefully-timed runny perfection – came together in tonight's diner. And were preserved here while they grew cold, drawn before eaten.

It's strange, but I keep thinking that the eggs and asparagus combined in this way, exhibited, look like daffodils... I probably have daffodils and their fresh colours on the brain, as they're everywhere I look this week. Daffodils and cherry blossoms, yum.

I never would have thought of combining the two. I'm eating my asparagus fresh out of the garden. It's only the second year for this patch, and it's not making enough to get into the house to even think about cooking.

Nice drawing! I had a hard time "reading" the eggs (as eggs), but the lines and colors were lovely to look at.

Also...I don't know if I would have had the patience to draw my dinner before I ate it. :-)

Sounds like a great combo to me. Hard to make those eggs perfectly cooked so congrats on that.

Thanks Fashion Fushia and Diane!

Coreopsis – lucky you, asparagus fresh from the garden! I hardly ever eat it raw, but I should try it that way... You're right, it's definitely tough to look at your food and not eat it! Sometimes while trying to get a perfect photo of a dish for our food blog I just give up and eat.

GB – thanks! Yep, I'm practicing lots :)
